Spotted Lanternfly Spotted in Clinton

According to the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, spotted lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula) is an invasive insect pest that primarily feeds on trees of heaven (Alianthus altissima) but can also feed on a wide variety of plants such as grapevine, hops, maple, walnut, and fruit trees.

There is a high level of concern for the damage this insect might do to the state’s agriculture, tourism, and forests.

The spotted lanternfly has been found in Dutchess County, so you may see it on your property. If you do, follow these management instructions from Cornell University.
