According to the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, the emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis) is a wood-boring beetle from Asia that feeds on all native ash trees (Fraxinus sp.) in New York State. Ash trees make up 8% of the state’s trees, and the impact of this pest could be devastating to the economy and ecology of the state.
